What is Trust?

Trust (Ethereum Wallet):

Trust is a popular hot wallet designed for Ethereum and Ethereum-compatible blockchains (e.g., Binance Smart Chain, Polygon). It serves as a mobile app, allowing users to:

  • Store ETH and ERC-20 tokens.

  • Switch between blockchain networks.

  • Interact with decentralized applications (DeFi, NFTs).

  • Perform token swaps directly within the wallet.

How to Install Trust (Mobile App & Chrome extension)

  • Click on "Download" and select your browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Edge). (Please be aware that at this moment there is no browser extension for Safari. Please download Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Opera, Edge for adding the wallet extension). For this tutorial we will be using Chrome.

  • Click "Add to [Browser]" and follow the steps to install the extension.

  • Click on your Extensions and make sure Metamask is downloaded and click on it.

Mobile App:

  • Click on “Get Started”.

Setting Up Your Wallet

  • Make sure to scroll all the way down and agree to the terms of use.

Creating a New Wallet

  • Congratulations, now it’s time to click “Create a new wallet”.

  • You can use three ways to open an account. If you are bad with memorizing passwords then it's best to open the account with your google account or apple account. However, if you are choosing to continiue with secret recovery phrase you have to make sure to save your password somewhere safe and not forget about it.

  • The first step is to create a strong password for your metamask. In case you did not choose the google or apple way.

  • Click on “Get started”

Backing Up Your Seed Phrase

  • Now we have arrived at the most important part of the wallet. The Secret Recovery Phrase. The secret recovery phrase for Metamask consists of 12 words which is unique for each person and needs to be written on a notebook and not shared with anyone as it can let people access your wallet and funds easily.

As shown in the picture down billow make sure to add the words alongside with the number next to them in a notebook that you will keep safe around you at all time. Its also bestif you memorize the words.

What is a Seed (Secret Recovery) Phrase?

  • A Secret Recovery Phrase (or seed phrase) is a set of 12, 18, or 24 words that acts as a master key to your crypto wallet. It’s essential for recovering access if your wallet is lost or reset.

Why is it Important?

  • Access to Funds: Whoever has the phrase controls the wallet.

  • Recovery: It’s the only way to recover your wallet.


Why Write It in a Notebook?

  • Offline Safety: Keeps it safe from hackers.

  • Durability: Can’t be deleted or corrupted.

  • Accuracy: Prevents errors during recovery.


How to Write It Down

  1. Use a Dedicated Notebook: Reserve it for sensitive info only.

  2. Write Clearly: Copy the phrase exactly, including the order (e.g., 1. youth, 2. ticket).

  3. Double-Check: Verify for accuracy.

  4. Store Safely: Keep the notebook in a secure, private location.


Tips for Security

  • Never store it online.

  • Create backups in multiple secure locations.

  • Avoid sharing it—no one should ever ask for it.

By writing your recovery phrase in a notebook, you ensure it’s safe, accessible, and secure.

  • The next step is a little quiz under Metamask to check if you have fully memorized or kept so in the future in case of forgetting your password you can regain access to your wallet and funds.

  • Click “I agree”

  • Your wallet is now ready. Click “Done”.

  • This is how the interface of your wallet will look like.

Public vs. Private Key

Public Key:

  • On the top left side the name of your account is shown along with your public key.

  • You can click on the double box icon to copy it.

  • The public key will look like something like this:

  • This is like your bank account number. You can share it with others to receive funds. It’s safe to share publicly and is used to generate your wallet address.

Private Key:

  • Click on the 3 lines icon on the right side of the interface and then click on “Account details”.

  • Click on “Private key”

  • In order to receive your private key you need to enter the password you chose for your account.

  • Your private key will be something like this. You can copy your private key and keep it somewhere safe preferably in a notebook. You private key is the most important part of your wallet which should never be shared with others.

The difference between Public and Private Key?

  • Public Key: This is like your bank account number. You can share it with others to receive funds. It’s safe to share publicly and is used to generate your wallet address.

  • Private Key: This is like the PIN to your bank account. It gives full access to your wallet and funds. Never share it with anyone—if someone has your private key, they control your wallet.

Adding Ethereum and Tokens to MetaMask

  • There are two ways to add Ethereum and Tokens to Metamask and it is either to buy and sell it or receive it from someone.

Buy/Sell:

  • Click on “Buy/sell” you will be directed to a page in which you can add funds by linking your bank account.

  • You can choose your currency of choice and the amount you are willing to spend in that currency or choose how much Ethereum you want to buy.

  • There are 2 different types of Payment Methods for you to use. Which is Debit or Credit or Binance P2P. You can use either based on your personal choice.

Receive :

  • You can also receive Ethereum by sharing your Public Key or QR code of your Public key to a person who is willing to send you funds.Go to your main interface and click on “Recieve”.

  • You can copy and share your Public key with anyone to send you funds.
